Revit to 3D PDF: BIM Functionality If you are working with clients who have Revit, the best option for sharing your models is in Revit; however, if they don’t 3D PDFs may prove to be really valuable. 3D Pdf can be good for marketing and clients are able to view a 3d model and the embedded data, compressing large files and filtering them for viewing. Note: Such a conversion is only possible using Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended version. Normal pro versions don’t have the IFC data input option. FROM REVIT TO IFC After you have finished your Revit model, the first step in creating a 3D PDF is to export the model using the IFC option. To export a model to an IFC format, you first have to be in a 3D view of the model in Revit. Then, EXPORT ->OPTIONS ->IFC OPTIONS.

Save your PDF and you now have an interactive 3D PDF. Interacting with the model When you open the PDF in Acrobat Reader, you may have to click to activate the 3D content. The main window contains the 3D model. Interact with your model as you would most other 3D programs: Scroll your mouse wheel to zoom in and out, left click and move your mouse left, right, up, and down to move the model.

Tip: To exclude all properties that are blank, click Select All Fields with Values. • Select design view representations of the model to include in the 3D PDF. • To indicate whether a design view is included in 3D PDF export by default, set the Publish property for each design view representation. In the browser, right-click a design view, and click Publish to change the setting. • The design view representations list in the model browser determines the order of model views in the output 3D PDF. To change position of a design view, in the browser, drag the design view to the desired place in the list. • Set the Visualization Quality.
