I started out on Windows 8 when Office 2013 Professional Plus was first installed. I also installed Project 3013 and Visio 2013.

Then MS pushed out 8.1 and I upgraded. All software is fully patched using Windows update. I have repaired all office software multiple times.

I have uninstalled using FixIT and reinstalled. I do not have a corporate firewall blocking any ports, sites or downloads. No matter what I have tried, I receive the 'something went wrong while downloading your template'.

However, if I go to the MS Template website, I can download them manually. This seems to indicate that there is a problem with the configuration of my laptop or the Office 2013 software. Very frustrating! Hi, I would need more information to help you better. From where are you downloading the template (Microsoft Online or other website)? Does this issue occur while downloading a specific template or all templates?

If the issue is with all the templates then let us perform a quick repair and check if the issue occurs. Also refer to the following thread link which talks about similar issue and check if it helps. Provide more details with results and let us know if you need further assistance. You can always download the template you want directly from the Office web site. Be sure to save it in your User Templates folder. That is not an acceptable workaround for Project or Visio since the new Templates web site does not list templates for those products.

If the only solution is to manually download templates, where do we find the Project and Visio templates? I don't use Visio or Project, so I can't make any suggestions for those applications.

I'm trying to update an installation of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 and wonder if somebody could help me with the correct Product ID to use for the Office Deployment Tool configuration.xml file? Almost all the examples seem to use O365ProPlusRetail. The configuration documentation here discusses only Office 365: But it links to this page, which lists product IDs, but no description (thank you not very much!): There's a 'ProfessionalRetail' there; elsewhere I've seen a 'ProPlusRetail' which isn't listed there, and I'm hoping that if I get the right Product ID I can get this cantankerous update process to work! Some good news: Using the product id 'ProPlusRetail' I was able to upgrade to version 15.0.4605.1003. Why, using the same configuration scripts, I'm unable to upgrade to version 15.0.4615.1002 as found here (support. Com/gp/office-2013-click-to-run), I have no idea. In the log file I get 'C2R Client returned failing error code 17001'. If anyone has an idea what that error is all about, I'd be glad to hear; otherwise I'll just wait and try a newer version later on! Should it help anyone else, I did find that after trying the latest version and then moving back to the older version, I had to delete officeclicktorun.exe from C: Program Files Microsoft Office 15 ClientX64. Hi, Microsoft have used some rather confusing product marketing terms, which makes it hard to get clear, and also to be clear, when it comes to this release of Office:( Office 2013ProfessionalPlus - installation uses the classic setup.exe + MSI engine. Can be updated via WSUS. Office365ProPlus - installation uses the new ODT, and results in C2R virtualized 'installation'. Can't be updated via WSUS.
